(Sold Out) Bush Foods Knowledge and Gulpa Ngawal (Deep Listening) Workshop

A unique opportunity to share a morning with Veronica Cougan, Native Bush Food specialist and First Nations Artist, Jandamarra Cadd as they share their knowledge and celebrate their love of nature’s wonders through food, creativity and connection.

For thousands of years, ‘bushfood’ plants have been an integral part of indigenous people’s staple diet and culture. Today these native foods are being ‘rediscovered’ by contemporary Australians and appreciated for the unique flavours they offer us.

Learn how to create a bushfood garden in your own backyard as Veronica from Witjuti Grub Bushfood Nursery shares her 25 years of experience and knowledge working with Native Food Plants.

The workshop will also showcase a wide range of tastings of fresh seasonal bushfood produce and a bush food inspired morning tea to get your tastebuds tingling.

Following morning tea, artist, Jandamarra Cadd will conduct an outdoor Gulpa Ngawal (Deep Listening) art making workshop in the green spaces of the MET site.

In this one-off workshop, Jandamarra will guide participants through artistic and personal practices using art materials and natural materials/elements to creatively express a deeper understanding of identity in relation to one’s connection to country.

Jandamarra is a Yorta Yorta and Dja Dja Warung descendent living on Gubbi Gubbi country. One of his latest artworks, United Journey is currently on display at the MET as part of the Place Activation Grants Program.
