VENUE HIRE MAROOCHYDORE

The MET spaces can be hired in various combinations to suit your event requirements. When hiring a space you are gaining the exclusive use of that space. If not hired, the Workspace Courtyard and grassed Amphitheatre are open public spaces. The total size of the MET is approx. 2800m2. A combination of the Workspace and Courtyard is the most popular option for small to medium sized events. The addition of the grassed Amphitheatre provides ample space for large scale outdoor events for as many as 2000 people.

The custom-designed container Bar is available as a package with the Workspace and Courtyard to provide the appropriate space for a licensed drinking area.

Metropolitan, known as the MET, is a space like no other on the Sunshine Coast. The purpose-designed hub of breezy outdoor spaces and all-weather venues sits at the creative heart of Maroochydore City Centre.

The MET is always evolving, always accommodating and always ready to help the community connect and engage.

Workspace

The MET’s highly flexible Workspace is 12m x 6m with a 2.4m x 6m covered veranda and suitable for indoor workshops and events for up to 75 people standing.

The space can be expanded by making exclusive use of its 9m x 12m Courtyard entry area (including covered veranda), expanding the capacity to 175 people. Using trestle tables, stools and chairs provided, the space is a perfect for workshops, events, presentations, art installations and product displays.

Bar

The MET’s Bar is a 20ft custom designed container set up to be self-operating by businesses and community groups using the MET for events. The MET Bar includes three lift up server panels with hot water, sinks, ice wells, glass racks, a safe, cash draws and basic bar equipment, as well as use of the cold room with capacity for 1.2 x 2.4m2 chilling space, needed to operate a retail bar service. Hiring of the MET Bar includes access to the Workspace and courtyard area as well as furniture and fencing for a max 400-person licensed drinking area.

For larger events and festivals, the entire grassed Amphitheatre including the stage can be licenced. In fact, the only area that cannot be licenced is within the Café trading area.

Grassed Amphitheatre & Stage

The grassed Amphitheatre is approximately 2000m2. Watch music while the kids kick balls, play totem tennis, ping-pong or roll down the grass bank. It’s a large flexible outdoor space with an intimate feel.

Our striking 6m x 5.5m stage faces across the grassed Amphitheatre towards the Workspace, Courtyard and the custom-designed container Bar. With 3phase 32amp power outlet and standard 10amp sockets available, the Stage is situated next to a 20ft storage container that can also be utilised. The stage is hired in a package with the grassed amphitheatre.

There is also a building certified concrete pad suitable for large-scale structures.

1. If you are a community group or event organiser looking to book a space on the MET for your event, the first step is to contact the City Activation Team.
2. We will discuss your idea, its suitability for the space, availability of dates plus any other requirements you may have. A meeting and site visit may be required.
3. If your idea is considered suitable, you will be requested to complete and lodge an Event Application form with our team.
4. If your Event is supported however due to its size and impact on the surrounding area, it requires a Council Event Permit, you will be issued a letter of support to accompany your application to Council.

Submission of this Event Application form does not automatically imply approval of your event. Similarly, a letter of support from SunCentral to accompany your Event Permit application to Council, does not guarantee Council will issue an Event Permit.
