About Maroochydore City Centre

The Maroochydore City Centre Project is a ground-breaking city-building project that will shape the future of the region and cement the Sunshine Coast as one of the best-performing regional economies. Modern and ambitious the Maroochydore City Centre will become a vibrant hub of commercial and cultural activity, technology, innovation, entertainment and inner city living.

Not only is the MCC intended to be the civic hub for the Sunshine Coast, with the new City Hall located in the heart of the CBD, the Sunshine Coast Olympic Village will be created onsite for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games (Brisbane 2032). The MCC will become an international hub, offering an outstanding and exciting village experience for athletes, officials and media.

In November 2020 Walker Corporation entered into a development agreement with the Sunshine Coast Regional Council and SunCentral Maroochydore Pty Ltd (SunCentral) to develop 53ha of land in the Maroochydore City Centre (MCC). Walker is making a $2.5 billion investment in the MCC and will deliver circa 160,000sqm of commercial retail space and 4,000 residential apartments over the next 15 to 20 years.

The forward thinking, greenfield CBD development is overseen by SunCentral Maroochydore, a wholly owned enterprise of Sunshine Coast Council governed by an independent Board of Directors and a Chief Executive Officer.
