Lighting up the MET in the heart of the new Maroochydore City Centre, our free CITY BLOOM art event invites the community to immerse themselves in the beauty of art celebrating our local flora.
A night garden of large scale photographic projections captured in astonishing detail by multi-media artists, Man&Wah will be centre stage in the grassed amphitheatre.
Audiences are invited to relax and enjoy the projections or participate in real time art making by creating their own responses through floral life drawing activities and/or an outdoor gallery wall of handmade paper flowers.
Take a walk through the paper lantern labyrinth and marvel at the display of botanical inspired artworks created during a series of community workshops.
Presented by the Cosmic Collective of artists including Man&Wah, Wildflower Woman, Sue Davis and Chony Bowden of Chony’s Art Room, this visual feast will follow on from the first Design Series event of 2023 on the theme of ‘A Pathway Through Net Zero’ with special guest Joan Ko.
This double feature of Design Series Talk and Pop-Up Art exhibition will explore how nature and technology can provide us with abundant opportunities to create a more sustainable future as we head towards carbon neutrality.
Bring a picnic rug and a chair and enjoy this once in a lifetime opportunity to see our city in bloom.
The MET Bar will be open and operated by the Sunshine Coast Creative Alliance – with all profits directly going to local art projects, and great food available to purchase by The Twisted Taco.

CITY BLOOM is funded by the Place Activation Grants Program – an initiative of the Maroochydore City Centre delivered in partnership with Walker Corporation, SunCentral and the Sunshine Coast Council.
