Art Program at the Met Continues to Ask the Big Questions

A bold new interactive artwork has been installed in the Maroochydore City Centre as the latest addition to the MET’s Creative Hoarding Program.

Information Paradox by Peregian Beach artist, Jaime Kiss, is a thought provoking work referencing Stephen Hawking’s black hole paradox exploring the idea that two contradictory principles can be simultaneously held as true.

Gazing into the mirrored surface measuring an impressive 6.3m long x 1.1m high, viewers are invited to reflect on how we are transformed by information and how information transforms us.

This latest commission is part of a series responding to the your city. your story theme of ‘A Place for People’. The Maroochydore City Centre is a place where both people and information flow freely. The appeal of the work is what it asks of us – does the constant stream of information in today’s world expand our world view or narrow it?

Jaime Kiss is a graphic designer and artist whose geometric compositions using simplicity and colour are enlightened by science, philosophy, art history and culture. Having trained in Sao Paulo and London, he has exhibited and curated exhibitions across Europe and the UK and now calls Peregian Beach home.

The artwork is on display until September as part of your city. your story. initiative which enables people’s ideas, experiences and responses to their future city to be expressed, documented and showcased.
